Wooden Wick Candles
What is a wooden wick candle?
A wooden wick candle has a wick made with thin strips of wood instead of cotton. When it burns, the wooden wick makes a crackling sound like a fireplace. The flame on the wick is also shaped like a teardrop.
How do I correctly light a wooden wick candle?
There’s a correct way to light a wooden wick candle:
1. First burn: make sure to allow the wax to melt evenly across the entire surface. This prevents a problem called tunnelling, where the candle to burns down through the centre, leaving wax around the edges.
2. Trim the wick: trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This helps maintain a clean, even burn and reduces soot and smoke before each burn.
3. Extinguish the flame: using a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame is best. This method keeps wax from splattering and soot and smoke to a minimum.
Following these steps will help you enjoy the ambience and delightful fragrance of your wooden wick candle.
