Yankee Candle was established in 1969 by a 16-year-old student. Christmas was approaching and he needed gift ideas. The student decided to make his mother a candle as he knew it would be such a beautiful gift but unique and personal.
 
After sourcing everyday materials like, household wax, a few crayons, string and a carton. He created his first Yankee Candle. A friend saw his first candle creation and offered to buy it, this left the student to buy more materials and to create a few to sell.
 
Yankee Candle was born.
